Barbara Marcinkowska

Barbara Marcinkowska’s painting practice is guided by intuition, emotion, and the spontaneous emergence of imagery. Rather than depicting the world as it appears, she paints what she sees and feels internally, allowing each composition to develop through an instinctive dialogue with color, gesture, and material. Standing before the canvas, she embraces a process of discovery in which inspiration unfolds organically through the act of painting itself.

Travel and nature serve as her primary sources of inspiration. Encounters with diverse landscapes, climates, and cultures leave lasting impressions that later reappear within her work through evocative color relationships and atmospheric harmonies. Whether inspired by the vibrant palette of an Asian summer or the subdued tones of a Polish winter, color becomes a vehicle for memory, emotion, and sensory experience.

Her paintings explore the visible and invisible dimensions of existence, reflecting on the energies that surround and connect all living things. The works evoke the air we breathe, the traces of the past that inhabit the present, and the unseen forces that shape our perception of the world. In this sense, each painting functions as a threshold between what is observed and what remains beyond sight - a space where color becomes a manifestation of the interconnected energies that unite all things.
