Luciana Isabel Sacchi Alvarez

Luciana Isabel Sacchi Alvarez is an architect and multidisciplinary artist whose practice is shaped by an enduring curiosity and a lifelong engagement with diverse artistic techniques and materials. Raised in a creative environment by an engineer and carpenter father and a mother who is a professor of sculpture and drawing, she developed an early appreciation for craftsmanship, experimentation, and the expressive potential of making.

From a young age, Sacchi Alvarez explored a wide range of artistic disciplines, including ceramics, clay modeling, wood carving, xilography, papier-mâché, glass fusing, sculpture in cement and plaster, figure drawing, acrylic painting, watercolor, and oil painting. This broad technical foundation continues to inform her approach, fostering a fluid dialogue between traditional craftsmanship and contemporary artistic inquiry.

Her studies in special effects for cinema and theatre further expanded her material vocabulary, introducing her to epoxy putty, polyurethane materials, and resins. Additional training in theatrical set design deepened her understanding of spatial construction, carpentry, and sculptural fabrication through the use of partition structures and carved polystyrene forms.

As a trained architect, Sacchi Alvarez brings a strong awareness of structure, scale, and material relationships to her artistic practice. Her work reflects an ongoing exploration of how diverse materials can be integrated into cohesive visual and spatial experiences. More recently, she has expanded her practice through the study of marble carving, continuing her commitment to mastering new techniques and exploring the expressive possibilities of material transformation.
