Maria Escano

Maria Escano is a self-taught artist from Malaga whose practice is deeply influenced by her creative roots. As the daughter of an oil painter and an iron sculptor, she grew up surrounded by artistic expression, developing a personal connection to both visual storytelling and material exploration.

Her work explores themes of identity, emotion, and the human form through a bold use of symbolism and texture. Moving between vibrant floral compositions and striking representations of masks, Escano creates works that communicate through an expressive visual language.

Through the interplay of form, texture, and symbolic imagery, her practice seeks to convey emotions and ideas that extend beyond verbal expression. Each work becomes a space for interpretation, inviting viewers to engage with the personal and emotional dimensions embedded within her imagery.
