Rage Kamiyama is an illustration and digital comic artist based in Osaka, Japan, whose multidisciplinary practice explores the expressive potential of visual storytelling. Educated in digital film production in the United Kingdom, Kamiyama developed a strong interest in narrative as a means of communicating personal experience, shaping an artistic approach that moves fluidly between illustration, comics, and mixed media.

Beginning their career as a graphic novel artist, Kamiyama has published more than ten independent zines, several of which have been distributed through independent bookshops in Tokyo. This foundation in sequential art continues to inform a practice that combines narrative structure with experimentation across multiple visual forms.

Since 2025, Kamiyama has expanded their creative practice to include visual diaries, photography, watercolor, and acrylic painting. Often working through analogue sketches and painted studies before refining compositions digitally, they establish a dialogue between traditional and digital processes that enriches the conceptual and visual development of each work.

Kamiyama creates both narrative and essay-based comics, drawing inspiration from everyday experiences and observations. Their essay comics, in particular, reflect a distinctive blend of British and Japanese sensibilities, revealing moments of humor, cultural nuance, and quiet reflection through an engaging and highly personal visual language.
