Shivani Sharma
Shivani Sharma is a photographer based between London and Toronto whose practice explores themes of womanhood, visibility, and stillness within the landscape of contemporary urban life. Combining editorial sensibilities with conceptual inquiry, she creates images that examine the intersections of identity, time, and the female gaze.
Through a careful balance of intimacy and structure, Sharma constructs visual narratives that reveal the subtle tensions between presence and absence, appearance and emotion, and the personal and the collective. Her work is characterized by a thoughtful attention to composition, atmosphere, and gesture, inviting viewers to engage with moments that are both deeply individual and universally resonant.
Bridging commercial and fine art contexts, Sharma’s practice reflects an ongoing dialogue between aesthetic refinement and narrative intention. Her photographs navigate the space between observation and interpretation, creating images that speak to the complexities of contemporary experience while maintaining a strong sense of emotional and visual clarity.
Sharma holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from OCAD University in Toronto.
