Victoria Yuan is a contemporary visual artist whose practice is rooted in painting and informed by research into the body, materiality, and ecology. Through metallic surfaces, reflective layers, translucent coverings, and shifting bodily forms, she examines how subjectivity is shaped through processes of exposure, exchange, and transformation.

Influenced by hydrofeminism, material feminism, and ecological thought, Yuan approaches painting as a space in which bodies, materials, and environments exist in continuous interaction. Rather than presenting the body as a fixed or bounded entity, she considers it as a fluid interface capable of absorbing, resisting, and responding to the surrounding world.

Her work investigates tensions between visibility and concealment, gloss and damage, beauty and vulnerability. Positioned between figuration and abstraction, Yuan’s paintings create unstable visual spaces where boundaries dissolve and relationships between body, material, and environment emerge. Through this interplay, her practice considers transformation as an ongoing condition shaped by contact, permeability, and exchange.
