ZaZa Herzet
Sandra Herzet is a Belgian visual artist and the founder of ZaZart. Following a 24-year career in information technology, she gradually transitioned toward a dedicated artistic practice, embracing an intuitive and exploratory approach that stands in deliberate contrast to the structured environment of her professional background.
Her artistic journey began in 2017 through works on paper using charcoal, ink, and pastel. These early explorations focused on the expressive power of line, tonal contrast, and the emotional resonance that can emerge from minimal visual elements. Over time, her practice evolved to encompass mixed media and painting, expanding her material vocabulary to include textured gesso, modeling paste, acrylic, oil, charcoal powder, and natural pigments such as bister.
Through layered surfaces, gestural marks, and tactile compositions, Herzet investigates themes of identity, inner tension, emotional release, and the delicate balance between control and surrender. Her work embraces both structure and spontaneity, allowing material processes and intuition to play an active role in the development of each piece.
Rather than prescribing a fixed interpretation, Sandra Herzet creates space for personal reflection and emotional engagement. Her works invite viewers to slow down, observe closely, and respond to the sensations, memories, and meanings that emerge through their own encounter with the image.
